Ola Mae Dog Park Under ConstructionMANATEE COUNTY, FL (May 18, 2023) – Parrish pups—and their people—are getting a brand-new location to explore and enjoy! Manatee County Sports and Leisure Services staff members are preparing for a pair of brand-new dog parks at the Ola Mae Sims Park.

The park, located at 11800 Erie Road, will house a large- and small-dog park with pavilion coverings, dog agility courses, water hoses and fountains. The park has been under construction during the month of May and will be ready to host dogs and their owners beginning May 26, 2023.

The canine-inspired additions at Ola Mae Sims come at a great time for folks in the area, as the nearby Buffalo Creek Dog Park will be closed and reconfigured into a new soccer field to allow more league play. The Buffalo Creek Dog Park will remain open through May 30, 2023. Field renovations will begin immediately after the closure and should allow for the new field to be ready for play by Labor Day at the facility located at 7550 69th St. E. in Palmetto.

“This is a great thing for our Parrish area,” said District One Commissioner James Satcher. “Creating a new dedicated dog park, while at the same time expanding opportunities for soccer players, is a win-win.”
