MANATEE COUNTY, FL (March 25, 2022) — In a five-page memorandum to County Commissioners, Manatee County Administrator Scott Hopes is addressing concerns identified in a a recent Inspector General Investigation Report into allegations of favoritism and misconduct in the county’s Building and Development Services Department.
While that department has been strategically reorganized – into what is now the Development Services Department -- some functions (including Code Enforcement) now fall under the county’s Public Safety Department. Work is underway in both of those county departments to ensure compliance and cooperation moving forward.
The memo serves as a follow-up to Dr. Hopes news briefing Wednesday, March 23 and details what steps are being taken to eliminate ambiguity and increase accountability in the organization.
