Sea turtle nesting season is from May 1 to October 31.  It is against the law to touch or disturb nesting sea turtles, hatchlings, or their nests.  Help us protect these magnificent creatures.  For more information about sea turtles or to learn how you can help protect them, visit Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch & Shorebird Monitoring.

All parks allow dogs on-leash. Dogs are not allowed at the beaches or the following preserves: Leffis Key, Moody Branch, Neal, and Perico.  Please visit our Pet Policies page or individual preserve pages for additional information.

Beaches

Lifeguards are on duty 365 days a year at both Coquina and Manatee Public Beaches.  The covered hours are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Labor Day thru Memorial Day and 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day (summer).  Please note that no pets or alcohol are permitted at our beaches, and no drones can be flown over our beaches. Enjoy a great day at the beach - visit our Beach Safety page for more information.

Due to summer rains, flooding of beach parking is a common occurrence throughout the season.  Parks Maintenance will grade roadways and parking lots to remove potholes and improve conditions when areas are dry enough to do so.
