Dog and cat in front of shelter cagesMANATEE COUNTY, FL (June 27, 2024) – Manatee County Animal Welfare (MCAW) is teaming up with Petco Love, a national non-profit dedicated to animal welfare, and various animal groups across Florida to find homes for 2,000 shelter dogs and cats.

The Petco Love Florida Mega Adoption Event will be held at all MCAW locations June 28 to 30, as well as in Petco Pet Care Centers and local animal shelters. This special promotion for Florida features 46 organizations from 33 counties, offering thousands of pets for adoption, including over 200 at MCAW.

“We all believe these amazing animals deserve the best home we can provide while they’re in our temporary care,” said Manatee County At-Large Commissioner George Kruse. “However, the absolute best home for all our dogs and cats is a permanent home with a loving family.”

From June 28 to 30, MCAW will offer fee-waived adoptions for all pets, which include spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Manatee County residents need to license their new pets for an additional $20. The Palmetto Adoption Center is located at 305 25th Street West, Palmetto, and the Cat Town Adoption Center is located at 216 6th Avenue East, Bradenton. The Bishop Animal Shelter, our intake facility for strays, is located at 5718 21st Avenue West, Bradenton.

Visit mymanatee.org/pets to view all adoptable pets. “Summer months always bring higher capacities to our shelter, and we are excited to find loving families for the many wonderful pets in our care during this special, fee-waived weekend,” said Jennifer Hume, Division Manager for MCAW.
